St James’ Church, Moulton Chapel, is a Grade II* listed church in the Lincoln Diocese. Built in 1722 with later additions of a Victorian chancel and early 20C vestries it is a compact yet delightful brick octagonal gem of a church.
Due to its poor state of repair it was recently awarded HLF grant for a new roof and associated repairs to the fabric. During the internal works a decorative scheme was discovered below overlying paint layers and Chroma Conservation was invited to partially unveil the scheme within the sanctuary and went on to carry out conservation works involving careful mechanical removal of overlying paint layers, consolidation , grouting, lime plaster repairs and reintegration of the missing scheme.
